Almost... almost there : Devlog ]#4

After a long time off due to tech / bio issues, work has resumed.

I gotta say that all the old enthusiasm has returned and I once again love working on this project.

Nothing like a break to re-ignite the spark and get back to work! :)

Drawing from decks is now working (server side only at the time).

Cards are now updating and reading the information correctly.

Also... Players now are taking turns as the should and action points are updating properly.

It is starting to look complicated (especially with four players on) so some serious work will need to be done in order to declutter the UI.

Things left to do before first playable version for play-testing :

1) Add health / attack values to the cards.

2) Add attack action for cards (and server side checks / updates)

3) Implement skin in the game rule.

4) Add Empower Action button.

5) Card preview(?)

With all this renewed interest in making the game I believe that all of this will be implemented by next week and then I can start playing around making decks and testing the base behind the game.

After a few paper play-tests it seems that the game gets stale after you cycle through your deck a couple of times. The strategy element is strong and still there but... we need to find a way to make it fast and fun. Possible solutions being considered are :

1) Deck does not cycle so once you run out of cards that's it.

This should add a bit more weight to each card instead of just cycling through the deck to get to the strong ones.

2) Prefix - Payload - Suffix addons. Each card will have these extra abilities (mine 1 crystal / deal one damage / empower one creature) for example.

These will be activated only once the player has a certain amount of crystals in his pools.

For example :

Prefix: Only gets activated if the player has 5 crystals

Payload: Only gets activated if the player has 10 crystals

Suffix: Only gets activated if the player has 15 crystals

This should add a new dimension to the game and make stealing, mining and maintaining cards more fun and interesting.

Well that's enough rumbling for one day.

Stay safe <strike>out</s> in there
